Old Japan Shop offers museum quality fine art prints reproduced from rare authentic Japanese photographs, prints, maps and even postcards.
All the images date from the 1850s through 1960s, when Japan changed from an isolated traditional society into an ultra-modern state.
Over the past two decades, I have been collecting and caring for this visual heritage of Japan to help save it for the future and bring it to a larger audience.
I write about these images on my site Old Photos of Japan. I also make digital files of these images available to museums, documentary makers, publishers, and other organizations via my journalism and stock photography agency in Tokyo.
However, I believe that this exceptional and beautiful legacy needs to be shared wider, and more intimately. So, I regularly handpick highlights of my collection for exclusive enlarged reproductions and make them available as fine art prints.
